Experience Bible Truth That Will Set You Free
God’s Word, his message, literally goes into the darkness, finds you, opens your eyes to the truth, lights your way out of the darkness, and fills your life with light so you can see and know God. The power and presence of God is found in His Supernatural Book – the Bible. Today, we’re going to explore how Bible truth will set you free and keep you free.
1. Satan keeps men in darkness by blinding them to the truth
2 Corinthians 4:4 NIV
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
2. God’s Word Brings Light of Revelation – Understanding from God

The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.
3. The Bible (God’s Word) is a Light to Guide our Choices and Decisions
Psalm 119:105 NKJV
Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
We make so many decisions every day. Some of them could open doors to Satan and big trouble. Holy Spirit and God’s Word lead us to make right decisions, good decisions.
Sometimes, we really don’t know what to do. The possibilities each look good. But to choose anything except the right choice could have serious, long-term negative results.
I had been in China for two years, when a missionary I liked and respected told me that God had told her I was to marry her. At the same time, I had a huge crush on a local young woman who was a Christian. And there was a third person, a friend I also had feelings for. I was so confused.
I prayed. But I didn’t hear any answer. My emotions were clouding my thinking. I finally asked a much older missionary who visited China frequently, a man I greatly respected. He quoted scripture: “For God is not the author of confusion.” 1 Corinthians 14:33. And he said don’t do anything until the confusion lifts and you have peace. Then you will know.
I knew that if I chose the wrong person to marry, it could shipwreck God’s plans for my life. I waited. I chose the third option. There was no doubt. And the other two had long faded into my past. I’m still glad I chose Karen, my wife of 28 years. As I look back now, I can’t imagine how I ever struggled. It seems so obvious now.
But it wasn’t then. Life can get pretty confusing and we can make some big mistakes. We need God’s Word and Holy Spirit to help us.
4. Daily Living God’s Word Sets You Free
Satan holds us captive by thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and experiences from our past.
Satan’s authority over the earth was stripped from him over 2,000 year ago, but such is his ability to deceive mankind that billions of people alive today don’t know that.
But Jesus provided a path for us to know the truth and live in the light of that truth.
John 8:31 AMP
So Jesus was saying to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word [continually obeying My teachings and living in accordance with them, then] you are truly My disciples.
John 8:32 NIV
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
This scripture is for those who believe in Jesus.
6. Abiding is the Key – Jesus’ personal promise to you is that as you abide (as you live daily in His Word, reading, memorizing, declaring, obeying, and praying His Word) you shall know the truth.... and the truth will set you free. Satan’s deceptions will be broken and revelation light will flood your life.
Every time you open your Bible, demons shudder. You are receiving the truth and the power to defeat their schemes against you as you read and live from God’s word. Holy Spirit guides us as we read God’s Word. He leads us into all truth (see John 16:13) and gives us the ability to live it.
