Have you ever found yourself wondering, "How did I get so far away from God?” Maybe it was a decision you knew wasn’t right, but you made it anyway. Maybe you’ve felt the heavy weight of guilt, the sting of regret, or just the emptiness of being distant from God.
David, who the Bible says was "a man after God’s heart," knew this feeling well. His prayer in Psalm 51:10-12 is a desperate cry for forgiveness and restoration—a cry we all need when we’ve wandered away from God.
Psalm 51:10-12 AMP
“Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a right and steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation
And sustain me with a willing spirit.”

Do not cast me away from Your presence, (I want to feel your presence, hear your voice and know that you are near. Bring me close to you.)
… Restore to me the joy of Your salvation (bring me back to the joy and peace of knowing all is well in my relationship with you)
And sustain me with a willing spirit.” (Holy Spirit, empower me to continue to life free from sin in my life.)
