There is something truly special about belonging to someone else. Not ownership, but attachment, binding ties, allegiance. We see this sense of deep belonging and identity in how we introduce those we love.
“This is my son,” says the proud father to his old friend.
“Let me introduce you to my wife.”
“This is my family”
“Meet my lifelong friend, Hector.”
How much more do we develop that deep sense of belonging we all crave when God is the one saying this about us? Our identity, knowing to whom we belong, comes first and foremost from God.

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!
2 Corinthians 6:18
