How can we avoid making decisions that we'll later regret? God gave us a spiritual GPS. God's word is alive and active. It transforms our lives. Martin Luther famously wrote, "the Bible's alive. It speaks to me, it has feet, it runs after me, it has hands, it lays hold of me."
Hebrews 4:12 says, for the word of God is alive and active. After Jesus was crucified, he appeared walking on a road with two men. They were on their way to, uh, a place called Emmaus. They didn't recognize him, but as, uh, he explained Scriptures, something amazing happened.
Luke 22:42.
Later, they asked each other, were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us? Psalm 19:7 says, is not my word like fire? Declares the Lord. God's word burns in our hearts, lighting the way for us to make good decisions in life.
2 Corinthians 3:18. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image, from one degree of glory to another. As we engage with God's word, we behold his glory, and we're changed to be like him, to think like him.
James 1:22 says, Receive with meekness the implanted word which is able to save your souls.
God's word, planted in our hearts by reading and meditating on it, is powerful beyond imagination. It saves and empowers us.
