Have you ever been swimming under water when you go too deep and run out of breath before you can reach the surface? You quickly become desperate for air. You claw upward for the surface, panicked you won’t reach it in time.

Love is like that. Love is just as necessary as the air we need to live. Love withdrawn feels like a gut punch, leaving you breathless, like a crushing weight is on your chest. It hurts so much.

We’ve all experienced it. We’ve felt the crushing weight of betrayal – times when people cruelly withdrew their love and left us devastated.

We are creatures of love. That’s who God made us to be.
2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
When you were born again, God replaced your old “self nature” with a new “love nature.”

Love is what identifies you as a son or daughter of God. Love is Your identity.
John 13:35: "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

Let God Fill You With Love
2 Thessalonians 3:5 NLT
May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.

God placed a deep desire to be loved and to love in your heart. Ask Him to lead you into the fullness of the love He has for you.

Romans 5:5 NIV
"And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."
God “pours” His love into us, enabling us to love others in ways that we never could on our own.

This is the work of the Holy Spirit who actually creates God’s loving character in us – replacing our flawed human character with Christ’s.
Galatians 5:22-23 NLT
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Our hearts cry out for the security, the surety of being loved. We crave love we can rely on. Love that never fades and never fails. The love our hearts desperately desire isn’t human love. Human love fails. We all know that.
The love we desperately need comes only from God. As we abide in God’s love, His love will grow in us and overflow to others around us. Ask God to fill you with the love that never fades and never fails – His love.
