What does it look like to have the heart of God? If we want to understand God, we need to look at Jesus. Jesus is perfect theology. He is the perfect expression of God as a man empowered by the Holy Spirit walking the earth. Jesus was teaching and going about his everyday life when he was interrupted again and again.

Have you ever noticed that the Book of Mark records 35 times that Jesus was interrupted? Often he left teaching crowds to go help one person. Jesus stopped everything for one person and he never, not even once, said no. I believe Jesus wants to create a new heart in you as well as me.

A heart full of his love and grace, a heart that knows God and lives wholeheartedly for him. Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote in Life Together, we must be ready to allow ourselves to be interrupted by God. God will be constantly crossing our paths and canceling our plans by sending us people.

Bonhoeffer is describing the new heart Jesus died to give us in Jeremiah 24:7. I will make them want to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people and I will be their God, because they will return to me with their whole hearts. It's a heart responsive to the voice and to the nudges of God.

God is working throughout the earth to save, to heal, to deliver and to love people into his kingdom. He draws us into deeper heart connection with him so we can hear his voice and share his heart for mankind.
