It was 9:00 in the morning when they crucified him. At noon, darkness fell over the whole land until 3:00. Then at 3:00, Jesus called out with a loud voice, eli, eli lema sabachthani, which means, my God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Then Jesus uttered another loud cry and breathed his last.
At that moment, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split,
the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified and exclaimed, surely he was the Son of God.
Matthew 28:1 10. Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow.
Then the angel spoke to the women.
Don't be afraid, he said. I know you're looking for Jesus who was crucified. He isn't here. He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come see where his body was lying. And now go quickly and tell his disciples
And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them, and they ran to him, grasped his feet and worshiped him.
What looked like a defeat turned into the ultimate victory over death. Romans 5 continues in verses 18 to 19. Yes, Adam's one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ's one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. The gift is for everyone, but only those who desire it. Those who repent will actually receive it.
Verse 19
Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obey God, many will be made righteous. In Romans 10:9, 10:13 if you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It's by believing in your heart you are made right with God, and it's openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Pray with me: Jesus. I believe you are the Son of God, and I believe you died for me. I believe you rose from the grave to bring me life and freedom. I confess that I'm a sinner.
Forgive me for my sins. I give you my life. Be my savior and my Lord. Come into my heart, Jesus, and change me from the inside out. Thank you for saving me and giving me new life.
