Have you ever noticed how little things can quickly turn into big things? A hairline crack that has been there for days suddenly snakes across your windshield, quickly becoming a web of shattered glass. A small leak under the sink can rot the cabinet and damage the floor beneath before you even know it’s there.
The same is true for our spiritual lives. Little things—the subtle compromises, the unchecked thoughts or desires we indulge can grow and do serious damage if not removed. This video will show you how to identify and remove subtle harmful things from your life.

These are the "little foxes" that Song of Solomon 2:15 warns us about:
"Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes that are ruining the vineyards, while our vineyards are in blossom."
The vineyards symbolize our spiritual growth, fruitfulness, and blooming intimacy with God. Each of us should expect to grow fruit in our spiritual lives.
Galatians 5:22-23 NLT
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control.
And we should expect to grow closer, more connected, and more at home with God as we go through life. Our loving relationship, our intimacy with God should blossom and grow.
The Foxes
Song of Songs 2:15 describes what vineyards were like at that time. Foxes would burrow into the ground in or near vineyards. They would live in their burrows and eat the grapes. Even little foxes could do great damage to a vineyard as they played in the vines and knocked off the blossoms.
The blossoms symbolize a blooming love, a relationship with God.
The little foxes symbolize the small, often unnoticed things that creep into our lives and threaten to destroy our tender relationship with God and destroy the fruit Holy Spirit will produce in our lives through that relationship.
So how do we catch the little foxes before they ruin the vineyard? How do we guard our hearts and keep these small compromises from growing into something destructive?
Take 3 Simple Action steps:
Step #1 Self-Examination: Finding the Foxes
The first step is to ask God to help you take an honest look at your life. The truth is we may not know the true condition of our hearts. We often can’t see our own flaws. But God can.
Jeremiah 17:9-10
The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it?
10 “I the Lord search the heart
and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.”
Ask God to search your heart and show you the little foxes that may be lurking there.
Beware of Emotional Wounds, Bad Attitudes & Compromise (see video)
In Psalm 139:23-24, David gives us a powerful prayer to reveal the true condition of our hearts:
"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life."
Daily pray this prayer. Then write down what God shows you. And ask Him how to remove those things from your life. Do what Holy Spirit shows you.
2. Daily Surrender: Guarding the Vineyard
Once you’ve identified the little foxes, surrender them to God—and this isn’t a one-time thing. Surrender is a daily practice. In Luke 9:23, Jesus says:
"Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me."
Surrendering means giving God full access to every part of your life—your thoughts, desires, emotions and actions.
Proverbs 4:23 tells us how important this is:
Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
3. Rest in Christ’s Victory: Overcoming the Foxes
Finally, remember that you never fight spiritual battles on your own. Christ has already won the ultimate victory over sin and darkness.
Philippians 4:13
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
2 Corinthians 12:9 Paul writes:
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.”
Galatians 5:24-25
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us walk in step with the Spirit.
These verses combine to form a powerful truth: You have weaknesses, but as you walk with the Holy Spirit guiding you, you will walk “by the Sprit” - in His power. God’s power is perfected when we surrender our weaknesses to Him.
Take these 3 action steps every morning and you will keep the little foxes that destroy out of your life!
