God Answers Our Questions Through His Word
God promises to answer the greatest questions in our lives through His Word. Matthew 4:4 reminds us that we do not live by bread alone but by every word (rhema, or spoken Word) that proceeds from God.
Romans 10:17 echoes this by stating that faith comes from hearing God’s spoken Word. God speaks to us in various ways—through scripture, repetition, a still small voice, prophetic words, or even unexpected sources like a scene in a movie. When God speaks, we can have confidence and faith in what He says.
If you need answers, the Bible encourages you to ask God directly. Jeremiah 33:3 promises that God will reveal great and unsearchable things when we ask. James 1:5 assures us that God gives wisdom generously to all who ask. Even in the most difficult times, God is faithful to provide guidance, wisdom, and answers to navigate life’s challenges.
The 2 Life-Changing Questions in Acts 2
Acts 2 reveals two crucial questions that can change your life. On the day of Pentecost, God’s power fell on 120 disciples, enabling them to speak in languages they had never learned. This miraculous event amazed the crowd, leading them to ask, “What does this mean?” (Acts 2:12). This first question invites us to seek understanding about God’s work in our lives.
Peter explained the meaning of the event, pointing to Jesus as the Messiah. His message pierced the hearts of the listeners, prompting them to ask the second life-changing question: “What should we do?” (Acts 2:37). Peter’s response was clear: repent, be baptized, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. That day, 3,000 people became believers, and the Church began to spread across the world.
How Can These Questions Change Your Life?
“What does this mean?”
This question helps us understand God’s work in our lives. It addresses two key areas:
Our Identity: Who God is and who He says we are.
Life Direction: Guidance for navigating confusing or painful situations and making major decisions.
“What should I do?”
Revelation from God always invites action. James 1:22-25 warns us not to merely listen to God’s Word but to do what it says. After God reveals who we are and the path we should follow, we need His guidance for the specific steps to take, how to take them, and when to act.
Walking with God
God doesn’t just give us a map or instructions—He wants to walk with us step-by-step. Isaiah 30:21 says, “And whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you: “This is the way. Walk in it.”
Psalm 37:23 assures us that God orders our steps and delights in our journey.
Life is full of decisions, and mistakes can have tragic consequences. But when we ask God these two questions: “What does this mean?” and “What should I do?”—we can avoid costly mistakes and step into His greater purpose for our lives.
